Why build this
Nearly every translation tool assumes you're online. The times you most need one, you aren't. So we turned it upside down.
Some trade-offs
No cloud sync.
Moving machines means an export and an import. Nothing uploaded means nothing to leak.
No keys in the client.
AI comes from the server. There's nothing for you to manage, and nothing on your disk worth stealing.
Results are labelled.
Every sentence shows which layer produced it, including the times the AI layer was used.
Openly licensed dictionaries.
Only data with clear licences, attributed item by item inside the app.
Dictionaries and open-source licences
The offline dictionaries are built on openly licensed data: CC-CEDICT, JMdict, Wiktionary. The offline models come from OPUS-MT and M2M-100. The app's About page lists exactly what you have installed, with each licence and source.

The free tier needs no account. Dictionaries and translation memory work the minute the installer finishes, and you can download offline models in the directions you pick.
